Who is Chef Harold?

Chef Harold is an experienced chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur. Before founding Ramenwell in San Francisco, he built an impressive culinary career in the Chicago food scene. Harold initially trained under acclaimed chefs, including at Charlie Trotter's, one of Chicago's legendary fine dining establishments. He also worked at Japonais, where he helped open new locations in New York and Las Vegas. Following this, Harold launched Chizakaya, a modern izakaya that gained local recognition for its innovative take on Japanese-inspired dishes. His time as Executive Chef at Yusho, a Japanese street food concept by Chef Matthias Merges, earned him a StarChefs Rising Stars Award in 2015, cementing his reputation as a culinary innovator​. During that time he also earned the restaurant a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand award.

He's sinced moved to the Bay Area to and worked at Google's headquarters in Silicon Valley. He was recruited to be the Opening Executive Chef of their first noodle concept, Threads. During his time there, he ended up opening and many other cafes and concepts.

Today, Harold channels his passion for bold flavors and quality ingredients into Umami Hottie, a consumer brand offering specialty chili oils and frozen ramen, inspired by his experiences and creativity at Ramenwell. Through Umami Hottie, Harold continues to bring unique flavors to a wider audience, blending his culinary expertise with his entrepreneurial spirit.
